Re-introducing Internet Blackjack
Internet blackjack gained most of its popularity after the release of the
blockbuster movie 21, although it has already existed centuries ago. The
movie is all about a group of MIT students who played blackjack with the
help of a sophisticated card-counting technique that allowed them to take
millions from Las Vegas casinos. The movie has been the cause of the
re-introduction of blackjack. After the release of 21, everybody has dived
into playing Internet blackjack, especially when the game gives the best
edge against the house.

• Stand. This means that you are keeping the cards that
you have.
• Hit. This means that you are taking another card.
• Double Down. It means that you are going to receive one more card but
will have to double your bet.
• Split. This means that you will divide the pair of cards into two
hands. One bet will be placed in one, and the second wager will have to
be placed on another hand but of the same value.
• Insurance. This is the act of placing insurance bets on the side. If
you make the correct bet, then you get your money back, if it is a wrong
guess, then you lose your bet.
• Early Surrender. This is the option of surrendering early, and that
should be before the dealer checks for 21.
• Late Surrender. This option is surrendering after the dealer checks
his/her cards.
Counting the Cards
In Internet blackjack, all the numbered cards are calculated as is while
the face cards—king, queen, and jack—re all calculated as ten. Aces can
either be counted as eleven or one, whichever would be more favorable to
the player’s cards. If your first two cards round up to 15 and you asked
for a third card that happens to be an ace, then you might want to count
the ace as one. If, however, your first two cards round up to ten and
your third card is an ace, then you will want to count the ace as
eleven.
You win the game of Internet blackjack if you have cards that rounds up
to 21 or comes close to it. Let’s say you were dealt with two cards that
add up to 21, technically, you have won this round unless the dealer’s
cards also total 21. If your first two cards round up to 15, it is your
decision if you want to ask for a third card. It may risky to add
another card because if you go beyond 21, then you are busted and will
be out of the game. You won’t be able to play until the next table game.
