The game of blackjack is a game against the dealer. You are competing against the dealer’s hand. Basic blackjack rules dictate that if you go over 21, then you are busted and will be out of the game. You are only allowed to play until the next table game. The value of blackjack hand is determined by adding the values of the cards dealt. Cards 2 through 9 are worth the face value of the card, an ace can either be a one or an eleven depending on which value would give a better blackjack hand, and 10, jack, queen, and king are all valued at 10 points each. A blackjack is a 2-card deal garnering a value of 21, and the combination of these two cards is a 10-point card; a 10, a jack, queen, or a king and an ace which will obviously be valued as eleven.

Playing the Game
Playing blackjack usually begins with the placing of the player’s bets. Blackjack rules say that before the cards are dealt, the players must have already placed their bets after which you and the dealer will each be given two cards. Your cards are both face up, while the dealer has one card face up and the other down. You are then to decide based on your cards and that of the shown card of the dealer whether you will hit or stand. When you hit in blackjack, it means that you are asking for an additional card to add value to your hand when it is too low. Although this move is risky because you also have to consider that you don’t break 21, otherwise you get busted. When you stand in blackjack, it means that you are now contented with the dealt cards and that is the time that the dealer shows his other card. If the value of the dealer’s hand is below 17, then he has to hit and will take another card. When your hand is higher that of the dealer’s, then you win. You will be paid 1:1. However if you have a blackjack on hand, then you are paid at a higher rate 3:2. So if you made a bet of $10, then the dealer pays you $15.
